my mother-in-law should us this wish list from a family in her community.
they have a sick child and are asking for help with some things, which i can
understand, but this list got WAY out of hand. i was shocked at what they
were expecting from the kindness of strangers.

Yeah, a couple of years back a neighbor lady sent a letter informing the neighborhood that she was going to have knee surgery and listed what she needed from everyone. Call me stubborn and contrary, but the minute I see something like this I shut down and decide to do NOTHING.
