Meet the girls! I paid way too much for these two locally-raised, organic,
pastured chickens. But we will get 6 meals plus who knows how much chicken
stock from them, and I know they were raised and slaughtered as decently as
such things can be done. After breaking them down I only ended up throwing
out about two handfuls of squicky bits (mostly skin & tendons.)
Can you tell I read Omnivore's Dilemma and watched Food, Inc. in the same
week? (shudder)

They might cost more but I bet they taste better! I wish I could buy local free range birds :)
