This one is mostly for Jean, but the rest of you may find this area
interesting. For better or worse, Utah is sort of known for, among other
things, polygamists. This photo was taken in Arizona, looking back toward
Utah, of Colorado City where most of the town's population partake in this
practice.

It's hard to see the city, but it's there in the distance, complete with all
of the requisite unfinished dwellings. This is a local tax loophole - they
are not required to pay property taxes on unfinished dwellings, so no one
bothers to ever put siding on their homes. Most of the houses are various
shades of brown to sun bleached grey fiber board. Most attractive.

I took the photo from here because of the light, clouds and storm in the
distance. Ten minutes later I was driving through strong hail, and five
minutes after that passed a mini van that had rolled over on it's top from
all of the hail accumulated on the road. Everyone was safe, and standing
around scratching their heads as to how it happened.

Wow-nice shot. It's soooo flat there, or at least in this pic!

I've been trying for two years to figure out a way to get a picture of a polygamist family--they have a look all their own. Maybe this year.
