I made a trip back to my old neck of the woods today, working in the school that I spent 10 years of my life being a Science Teacher. The current head teacher, who replaced me almost 8 years ago, asked me to hook up a document camera for him today while I was in the neighborhood. As I was looking for it, I was checking out my old lecture and lab rooms, reminiscing a little...

I had mentioned to my replacement back then that there was some old hydrochloric acid that needed to be neutralized and disposed of, and that I had made up the solution to do it and just didn't have the time to get to it. This flask was put in this spot by me in the fume hood of the prep area - almost 8 years ago - and still has the note that I wrote on it, along with the old bottles of HCl that the note is pointing to sitting next to it.

All I can do is shake my head..... Astonishing.

Why didn't you neutralize it while you were there?
