We have been working on a grant to get mini-computer labs in teachers
classrooms. We'll help the teachers come up with technology projects for
their students to help increase their math scores on the end-of-level
tests.

The grant came from the Superintendent of Utah Schools - the BIG boss. It
was a 1-page application for up to $50K - needless to say that a bunch of
people submitted ideas! Our grant was one of 7 that were funded of over 700
that were submitted.

The Superintendant wanted to see how his money was being spent, but only two
of the 7 grants were up and running as of now. Ours was one, and he came to
visit the 3rd grade classrooms at one of the schools involved with this
grant to see how it was going.

Everyone was nervous, but we have done the work, so there was really nothing
to worry about. The Supt. really loved the project, the kids have been super
engaged and were excited to use the equipment and show off what they have
done. The visit went off extremely well today.

Somedays my job seems pointless as it seems like everyone above me is more
concerned about the system, politics and business of schools. Today was a
good day to get the Big Boss, the Supt. of the local school district, local
politicians all in the same room WITH the kids to be reminded of what
education is really all about.

Today was a good day.
